Document Management

Uploading Documents for Clients

When you prepare a document for a client (a completed filing, a report, a signed form), upload it through the portal so it's available in their account.

  1. Go to Documents in the sidebar.
  2. Click Upload Document.
  3. Select the client and document type.
  4. Choose your file and click Upload.

Making Documents Visible to Clients

By default, uploaded documents are internal only — clients can't see them until you explicitly share them.

  1. Find the document in the Documents list.
  2. Click the document to open its detail view.
  3. Toggle Visible to Client to on.
  4. The client will be able to see and download it immediately.

TIP

Only share a document with a client when it's final and ready for their use. Internal drafts should remain hidden.

Reviewing Client Uploads

When a client uploads a document, you'll receive a notification. To review it:

  1. Go to Documents and filter by Pending Review.
  2. Click the document to view or download it.
  3. Select Accept if it's correct, or Reject if something is wrong.
  4. If rejecting, add a short note explaining what the client needs to fix and re-upload.

The client is notified automatically of your decision.

Linking Documents to Tasks

Documents can be linked to a specific compliance task so everything stays organized.

  1. Open the task detail page.
  2. Scroll to the Documents section.
  3. Click Link Document and select the file from the list (or upload a new one).

Linked documents appear on both the task and the client's Documents page.
